How Does Liquid Silicone Rubber Molding Work?

First, a liquid silicone rubber (LSR) molding tool is created using CNC machining. This tool must be designed to withstand high temperatures for the LSR injection molding process and may be polished to offer various finish options.

Next, the finished tool is loaded into an LSR-specific injection molding press, precisely geared for accurate control of shot size, ensuring the production of consistent LSR parts. The materials used include standard silicones and specific grades tailored for different applications. Since LSR is a thermosetting polymer, its molded state is permanent and cannot be remelted like thermoplastics. Once the LSR injection molded parts are ready, they are removed from the mold and utilized as prototypes or production components.
